- ... In the women's category, the ninth round of the rapid chess championship, player Manal Al-Ashwal lost to Jordanian player Salam Al-Shawabkeh.
With these results, player Yasser Awad won fourth place with 6 points, equal in points with the third-place winner, Iranian Rahmat Pour Amin, after the tie-break in the men's rapid chess championship. In the women's championship, player Manal Al-Ashwal won fifth place with 5 points.
At the closing ceremony, many speeches were delivered by the heads of delegations and the representative of the Asian Chess Federation, all of whom expressed appreciation for the efforts of the Jordanian Deaf Sports Club, the Jordanian Federation and the Kingdom of Jordan for the good organization and preparation to make the championship a success. Gifts, shields and certificates of participation were exchanged to bring the curtain down on the first edition of the Asia-Pacific Deaf Chess Championship, as the second edition of the championship is scheduled to be held in Bangladesh in December of this year.
The Yemeni deaf team will return to the homeland next Wednesday, March 1, 2023, God willing.
