The opening of the first international tournament for the deaf in chess for women's singles

 

The first international championships for the deaf for women's singles in chess were launched yesterday, organized by the online International Committee of Deaf Chess.

And 58 players participated in the tournament, representing 20 countries from the world, namely Yemen, Jordan, Kenya, Ukraine, Brazil, Kazakhstan, India, Peru, Costa Rica, Iran, Poland, Ecuador, Latvia, Lithuania, Mexico, Chile, Hungary, Belarus, Australia and Kosovo. This is the first tournament organized by the committee from its headquarters in Sweden.

The 15-round online tournament was held by the Swiss system and the Blitz system, with 3 minutes, with an addition of 2 seconds for each move.

From Yemen, the national team player, Manal Al-Ashwal, participated in a fierce competition with the international performers, who scored 7 points and a text of 7 victories and one draw, to occupy the 29th place globally and the second in the Arab world.

It is worth noting that the tournament includes 3 categories, namely women, men and juniors. The Yemeni men's national team will play on the seventeenth of this month in the International Chess Championship for the Deaf for men.
